Freshwater Pearls are farmed using freshwater mussels and are currently mostly produced in China.  Multiple pearls can be cultured relatively easily from one mussel.  Freshwater pearls come in multiple shapes, sizes, and colors. Freshwater pearls are popular for use as bridesmaids set jewelry due to their relative lower costs.
